The paper deals with the effective implementation of resource and energy saving policy in the oil and gas complex of the Russian Federation (RF). modern regulatory and legal framework is analyzed. The key features of the new “Energy Strategy until 2035” are identified. The development of the modern oil and gas complex of the Russian Federation is analyzed. Justified the problems of direct and indirect effects of the efficiency of resource and energy saving in the oil and gas industry of the Russian Federation, focusing on the problem of metrological provision of domestic oil and gas industry. Promising technologies in the field of geological exploration, as well as in the field of oil and gas production, aimed at improving the efficiency of the resource and energy saving process in the oil and gas complex are proposed.
