Nowadays, parametric design and various simulation methods are gaining ground in almost every engineering and creative profession. The paper investigates the practical applicability of the combination of these methods, by analysing a specific freeform structure with Grasshopper 3D and OpenFOAM and pointing out the differences between the results of a CFD simulation and the recommended methods of the Eurocode. The case study highlights the new perspectives that are opening up in the field of structural design, especially in the examination of wind effects.
