Electric bulb technology evolved over the decades with striking innovations and a corresponding shortcoming. The paper examines the pros and cons of the different bulbs available in the market. It was observed that all bulbs had their unique advantage and disadvantage. However, the review showed that some of the shortcomings can be overcome. Hence, it is possible to relate with either the old and new bulb technology without many environmental hazards and technical errors. It was also observed that the health hazards in the compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) can be modified to drastically reduce its health hazards. Salient recommendations were made to aid researcher for further work.
