Factors affecting the integrity of steel ropes for lifting machines are considered; a brief review of existing approaches to assessment is made. The dependence of the intensity of the decrease in the area of the metal section of the ropes on the number of loading cycles is obtained. A method for determining the integrity of steel ropes is proposed.
