The introduction of large-scale technology carries a number of risks. This paper presents the risks associated with the introduction of a system for combined production of electricity and thermal energy (CHP) through direct combustion of biomass. It is envisaged that the residual amount of heat energy will be converted into electricity through the use of an ORC module. All possible risks have been identified based on the technology specifics, and the possible consequences of the risk have been indicated. A risk matrix has been prepared for both site and technology specifics in order to identify the type of risk. Based on the outputs, a proposal for reducing the risk has been made.
