The article examines the issues of availability of energy resources and energy production in the BRICS countries in the context of sustainable development. The study also analyzes the energy balance and the share of energy sources produced in the BRICS countries. The article describes a contribution of the BRICS countries to global energy demand and production. Using statistics and reports of leading energy experts, a forecast of future consumption and demand was developed. It shows a significant increase in both global demand and energy production. The study proposes measures aimed to address the problems hindering the development of the energy sector in the BRICS countries.
