In many technical academic courses and in the calculations of mechanical design engineers, buckling is a difficult problem. The applied methods of its solution are of a private nature and are unsuitable for modern, more complex structures in such sectors of the economy as mechanical engineering, construction, instrument making, oil and gas facilities, the nuclear industry, power networks, etc. complex problems of the stability of a compressed rod and at the same time achieve greater clarity and versatility with the proposed methods. Using specific examples, the application of the traditional analytical and the proposed analytical-graphic methods is shown. The proposed mathematical models and decision algorithms are verified using computational experiments. Based on the results obtained, practical conclusions are drawn.
