The data on the main factors, ensuring the successful rearing of calves, are presented. The importance of the immune system, being developed from an early age, is noted. The expediency of “cold” keeping calves in individual huts and cold ventilated premises is substantiated upon the availability of the correct feeding regime and dry bedding. The research and production experiment conducted in the conditions of the “Krasnodarskoye” educational and experimental farm has indicated that calves in individual huts and individual pens grew and developed better than in traditional conditions. The behavioral reactions of Holstein heifers were studied in different keeping conditions. Some differences in the duration of the rhythms of the vital activity and productivity of the experimental animals have been established.
