The process of reforestation of forest stands is associated with the implementation of a number of measures aimed at the renewal of forest resources at certain financial costs. Reforestation activities in the Penza Region from 2008 to 2018 were carried out on an area of 19872.2 hectares, from 2019 to 2028 they are provided for on an area of 17900 hectares. In 2019 forest restoration was carried out on an area of 1392.4 hectares (10% higher than planned), including artificial reforestation by planting seedlings on an area of 561.3 hectares in the spring at the optimal time, as well as natural restoration (promoting natural renewal) of soil surface mineralization - 831 hectares (17% higher than planned). Total area of reforestation in 2020 - 1327.9 hectares, including planting of forest crops on an area of 427.4 hectares and the addition of plantings of different years on an area of 1198.1 hectares, agrotechnical and forestry care of forest crops - 4797.2 hectares. Within the framework of the federal project "Forest Conservation" of the national project "Ecology" for 2019-2020. artificial reforestation was carried out on an area of 270.1 hectares and agrotechnical care was carried out on an area of 3203.7 hectares. To increase the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of forests, contributing to an increase in their resistance to unfavorable biotic and abiotic environmental factors, it is necessary to increase the areas of artificial reforestation by introducing promising technologies for creating forest crops.
