Results of the development of an empirical model of Cu electrification process are presented. A first part of the paper presents the initial stage of Cu organized electrization. It is based on aircraft investigations. The second part presents Cu characteristics during transition to thundercloud. It is based on the results of 100 experiments, where radar and lightning detection system LS8000 were used. The results confirm the crucial role of ice particles in the process of electrification of the convective cloud at all stages of its development.
