Preface

We were so delighted to announce that 2021 8th International Conference on Coastal and Ocean Engineering (ICCOE 2021) was held virtually successfully during April 3-5, 2021. The outburst of COVID-19 affected the original plan of conference. The virtual platform was chosen in the first place due to travel restrictions and safety reasons during the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to ensure the proceeding of conference, conference committee decided to change the form of conference from physical conference to virtual conference. We used ZOOM application which made virtual conference come true. We ensured that virtual platform is as good as any face-to-face conference as all keynote sessions were open to every participant to build efficient research networks. The aim of the ICCOE 2021 is to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, academicians as well as industrial professionals from all over the world to present their research results and development activities in Coastal and Ocean Engineering. This conference program was highlighted by three outstanding Keynote Speakers. They were Prof. Baoping Cai from China University of Petroleum, China, with his speech title “Remaining Useful Life Estimation of Structure Systems under the Influence of Multiple Causes: Subsea Pipelines as a Case Study”; Prof. Koh Hock Lye from Sunway University, Malaysia, with his speech title “Mangrove Regime Shift Under Climate Shocks”, and Prof. Guangwei Huang from Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan, with his speech title “Innovative Flood Disaster Management for Sustainable Development”.
