1. INTRODUCTION Greeting from the editorial team of GGT 2021. Papers in this proceeding were presented in the 7th International Conference on Geomatics and Geospatial Technology 2021 or GGT2021. This year conference jointly organised by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Royal Institution of Surveyor Malaysia (RISM) was held virtually as many other international conferences in the era of the pandemic. Geospatial Technology for Sustainable Development has been chosen for this year theme to unlock further the potential use of geospatial for leveraging sustainable development. The topics covered include Surveying and Geomatics, GPS and GNSS, Remote Sensing, LiDAR, UAV, 2D and 3D GIS, disaster management, flood modelling and many more. GGT2021 was supposedly held as GGT2020 on 21 – 24 September 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, the conference was postponed to 2021. The Movement Control Order (MCO) issued by the Malaysian government had prohibited any gathering including for meetings, seminars and conferences. In addition, there are travel restrictions not only for international but also domestic travel. Travel between different states and districts in Malaysia is prohibited. Since, the conference’s participants came from all over the world, even more than half of the local participants need to travel inter-state or inter-district to attend the conference, the organizer decided to change the conference to a virtual format. If the organizer decided to wait for the government decisions to lift those restrictions, it will be unclear when the conference can be held. Thanks to that, GGT2021 was conducted, virtually, on 23 – 24 March 2021. We would like thanks all the reviewers who have provided constructive comments and suggestions to the abstracts and papers assigned to them. We have received 59 submissions for the papers and 49 quality papers from 9 countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Italy, Russia, United States, Algeria and a few more were accepted. Again, thanks to 52 expert reviewers around the globe. Lastly, we would like to give a big applause and thanks to all the authors for their presentations and papers. Their contributions have generously contributed to the intellectual exchange of useful information, idea and knowledge that is so vital towards the sustainable goal for the world that we live in.
