In recent years, blackouts caused by extreme weather show a trend of frequent occurrence. This paper analyses the external causes of blackouts, summarizes the evolution process of blackouts, discusses the internal causes of blackouts in power system, analyses the challenges faced by power system under the superposition of extreme weather and renewable energy, and finally puts forward some suggestions for the planning of high proportion renewable energy power system.
