This study is an attempt to analyze the prospects for the sustainable development of the coal industry in the Krasnoyarsk Region of Russia. The authors examined several important milestones in the formation of the industry and revealed some major issues, which hinder the development of the coal industry in Krasnoyarsk Region. This paper also evaluates the current state of the coal industry and discusses the plans for its further development from an economic and environmental point of view.
