Preface

International and National Seminar on Fisheries and Marine Science (ISFM) is a regular activity that is held by the Fishery and Marine Science Faculty, Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru, Indonesia. This seminar has been conducted once/year since 2011 and aims to distribute the newest information on inland and marine fisheries in general. In this recent year, however, the world is facing the Covid 19 pandemic that causing travel restrictions as well as gathering activities and thus hampering the offline seminar activity. As the main target of the seminar is to distribute the new inland and marine fisheries related findings and information, conducting a virtual seminar is worth to achieve the goal instead of postponing or cancelling the seminar. The virtual “The 9 th International and National Seminar on Fisheries and Marine Science (ISFM9) 2020” was conducted on 10-11 September 2020 through a Zoom meeting and took its theme of “Fisheries and Marine Science for the Achievement of SDG’s in Realizing Community Welfare”. The seminar was attended by 359 participants that are originated from 27 different locations, namely Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Riau, Universitas Raja Maritim Ali Haji, Sekolah Tinggi Perikanan dan Kelautan Matauli, Institut Pertanian Bogor, Badan Riset dan Sumber Daya Manusia Kelautan dan Perikanan, Universitas Mulawarman, Kementerian Kelautan dan Perikanan (KKP), Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI), Universitas Pertahanan, Marine Fisheries Research Center, Universitas Gajah Mada, Universitas Andalas, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, King Abdul Azis City for Science and Technology of Saudi Arabia, Asian Institute of Technology Bangkok Thailand, University of San Agustin Iloilo City Philippines, Institut Teknologi Bandung, National Research and Development Agency Japan, Universitas Malikulsaleh, Mangrove Research Institute, Politeknik Bengkalis, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Balai Riset Perikanan Umum dan Penyuluhan Perikanan, Balai Besar Riset Sosial Ekonomi Kelautan dan Perikanan, Universitas Udayana and Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa.
