Sponge city has good “elasticity” in adapting to environmental changes and responding to self-heating disasters caused by rainwater. Cities can absorb water, store water, seep, and purify water when it rains, and release and use the stored water when needed. Sponge city construction needs to seriously implement the development concept of “innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing” in order to accelerate the construction of the sponge city, improve the city’s ability to adapt to environmental changes and respond to natural disasters. The design and planning ideas of weakening the boundary between the city and the water will become the industry trend in the future, and let the cold concrete be replaced by vibrant greenery, which will not only help the natural circulation of water in the city, but also help the environment, and realize the harmonious coexistence of human and nature. This article discusses the development status of sponge city and related measures and indicators to provide a reference for the construction of sponge city.
