The challenge of solar infrared radiation damage on the photovoltaic (PV) still subsists. This challenge has led to the low patronage of PV in the African solar market despite the purchasing price reduction. This research seeks to proffer solution to this challenge by shielding the surface of the PV panel from solar IR radiation. This solution is expected to also prolong the life span of the PV module. The bio-filter was synthesized using silver nitrate and hibiscus extract. The bio-filter was observed to have increased the current and power output in the polycrystalline panel by 1%. Also, it was observed that the bio-filter reduced the output in the monocrystalline by 2%. This result is adjudged promising as further research on other plant extracts are investigated.
