The paper presents the methods (procedures) of processing data from satellites of the Landsat series, for classification and evaluation of agricultural land used for rice cultivation in the area of Lake Khanka, Primorsky Krai. Opportunities for using various vegetation indices for analysis are described, as well as their complex combinations that ensure most accurate identification of the considered culture during the entire period of active vegetation. The developed procedures provided foundation for analysing the growth dynamics of crops innate to the Far East, where the potential for using satellite data for agricultural needs remains practically untapped.
