This article is devoted to the analysis of the current state of the Oka River as a peculiar reflection of the specificity and effectiveness of regional environmental policy. The article describes the Oka River, the largest tributary of the Volga River. Ecological and geographical features of the river and its riverfront are considered. The main anthropogenic impacts on the river are analyzed. The results of studies of the water quality of the Oka River within the city of Oryol are presented, and the ecological state of the river is estimated.
