Currently, passive L-shaped LC filters are widely used in static power converters. There are a lot of methods for calculating filter parameters, but they are complex. In addition, at the stage of experimental studies, it is necessary to refine the parameters to ensure required electromagnetic compatibility of the functional elements of the system. A simplified method for calculating the parameters of output and input filters of static electric power converters was developed. It can be used to evaluate the efficiency of converters. Filter calculations of AC and DC converters are not different, since the ripple coefficient and the harmonic coefficient are equal. The first one assesses quality of output voltage of AC converters, and the second one assesses quality of output voltage of DC converters. The method is based on the requirements ensuring minimum mass, continuity of current in the load, and high quality of output voltage. These requirements are met under conditions discussed in the article.
