Upon entry into force of Annex VI to MARPOL on the 19th May 2005, the sulphur oxide (SOx) emissions from ships are controlled by setting a limit of 3.5% on the sulphur content of marine fuel oils [1] . The computer-based excel program on fuel changeover and energy consumption is specifically formulated to assist the engineers regarding how to obtain the time required as well as the fuel consumption during the changeover of fuel oil. It shall be utilized effectively when preparing the plan for the fuel changeover when vessel is to enter ECA/SECA.Therefore, the calculation of fuel changeover in ECA (SECA) is critical.
