The article substantiates the relevance of the algorithm development for assessing the availability of wood resources. The actual conditions of the Russian timber industry complex are considered. The authors propose an algorithm with regard the various aspects of this issue and possible restrictions. It includes a consistent assessment of the environmental, technological, technical, transport and economic availability of wood at a particular site. Prospects of application of the developed algorithm are defined.
