The traditional design method of noncircular gear is broken through. A reverse design method of noncircular gear is presented. Take the design of noncircular gear teaching aid with variable transmission ratio for example, the mathematical model is established. Based on determined reducer box, the parameter criterion of noncircular gear oriented to unchanged center distance is deduced. And elliptical gear mechanism suitable for the reducer box is obtained. The design example of noncircular gear teaching aid with variable transmission ratio shows the validity of reverse design method of noncircular gear, which facilitates the standardization design for reducer for noncircular gear.
