Based on itaconic acid(IA) and 2-acrylamido-2-methyl propane sulfonic acid(AMPS) as raw material, the IA/AMPS copolymer was preparaed. The scale inhibition of copolymer was studied under different experimental conditions. The optimum conditions of synthesis of IA/AMPS were obtained: the raw material quality ratio was IA:AMPS=5:1; the addition amount of ammonium persulfate as the initiator was 5% of the total mass of the monomer; the polymerization temperature was 95°C; the time of epoxidation was 4 h. Under this condition, the scale inhibition rate on CaCO 3 was 100% when the IA/AMPS copolymer was 10mg⋅L −1 . The scale inhibition rate on Ca 3 (PO 4 ) 2 was 100% when the IA/AMPS copolymer was 30mg⋅L −1 . The light transmittance of the supernatant after the dispersion of Fe 2 O 3 was 25%, indicating that the copolymer obtained under this experimental condition has good scale inhibition and dispersion performance.
