A methylaluminum Schiff base compound 1 bearing phenanthrene derivatives was made and used in the ROP of LA. Compound 1 was characterized by NMR and elemental analysis. Compound 1 with isopropyl alcohol exhibited good activity towards the polymerization experiment of LA. The ROP is in a coordination-insertion mechanism.
