In long distance water transfer project, pipeline fluctuation, easy to produce multiple column separation phenomenon, then the water hammer of cavities collapsing is greatest harm to the pipe. Summarizing the previous research results, mechanism analysis of water hammer of cavities collapsing and theoretical calculation model, and introduces the main protective equipment and boundary conditions. After long-term practice, constant speed buffer air valve and Two-way Surge Tower effect remarkable on water hammer of cavities collapsing.
