The accuracy of water use statistics has attracted more attention especially after the publication of “Three Red Lines” policy in China. Based on data from China Water Resources Bulletin (CWRB) and China Census for Water (CCW), the authors analyzed water use disparitiesby integrating multiple approaches and identified causes for disparities in industrial and agricultural water uses. We presenteda set of modified water uses data from 1997 to 2015, which might be more realistic and hopefully will provide more accurate base data for future water resources management.
