Leakage and cracking of GIS metal parts will directly affect the insulation and conductivity, which will lead to grid equipment failure. The three main typical faults of GIS metal parts were analyzed, ie. air leakage, short-circuit row breakage, and conductor weld crack. Based on the above analysis, suggestion of strengthening the metal supervision in the aterial procurement, infrastructure and transportation inspection stages have been proposed to avoid major safety incidents caused by the failure of GIS metal parts.
