Article presents results of a comparative assessment of non-moldboard methods of basic tillage in a fallow field for winter wheat after various predecessors. Effectiveness of moisture-saving systems for the care of the fallow field: mechanical, combined and chemical has been studied. Bare fallow treatment systems effective for arid conditions of the steppe zone of the Southern Urals have been developed. As a fall basic tillage of a bare fallow for winter wheat after stubble predecessors, it is advisable to use deep non-moldboard loosening or deep flat-cut tillage, and after the sunflower - shallow loosening in autumn or disking tillage in spring. For the care of the black fallow, a shallow flat-cut tillage system at a depth of 6-8 cm is recommended.
