The article reviews the examples of the potential use of the nanotechnology achievements in environmental protection and nature restoration activities, in particular, the possibility of cleaning up oil spills at sea during transportation. The introduction of magnetic levitation effect in technology can bring potential benefits for solving environmental issues. It is noted that this method was recognized as economically ineffective. The study concludes that the predominance of the economic factor over environmental aspects can lead to neglection of progressive approaches and serious changes in the ecosystem. As a result, the expected short-term positive effect can be offset by long-term negative natural consequences. The authors propose to focus on nature conservation and restoration activities, and to analyse achievements and proposals in this area with a predominance of a long-term environmental perspectives.
