Indoor substations are often located in areas with intensive power consumption, and its grounding design has become a very important task. In this paper, the whole process of grounding design is studied from the grounding resistance measurement obtained in the early geological exploration to the final grounding resistance, touch voltage and step voltage verification to ensure the accuracy of the design. According to the design parameters of grounding performance, the simulation calculation based on CDEGS software is adopted and optimized, which improves the design accuracy. Taking a 110kV actual substation as an example, the simulation results are accurate and reliable, which shows that the research method of grounding design based on CDEGS software can effectively improve the design quality.
