Relays are the key components in the operation of nuclear power plants. There are many kinds, large quantity and high failure rate of relays in nuclear power plants, which are the difficulties in on-site maintenance and equipment management. There is no effective method and equipment to judge the aging state of relays on site, so only passive maintenance and replacement strategy can be adopted. The device developed in this paper uses space electromagnetic wave detection technology to monitor the aging status of relay on line, which provides a new way for the aging status evaluation and failure diagnosis of relay in service. The preliminary test results also show that the device has the potential to solve the key technology of relay maintenance activities in nuclear power field and realize relay aging management and predictive maintenance.
