Correct modeling of static stiffness and strength of the metal bobbin tile is crucial in the design of roof structures. In the past, finite element method (FEM) is the only accurate way to evaluate stiffness and strength of the metal tile. In this paper, the single metal bobbin tile is first treated as an open cylindrical shell. Then an analytical model for the static stiffness of the metal bobbin tile under concentrated load is presented based on a double triangular series. The accuracy of the present models is verified by comparing their results with the numerical results of FEM.
