Ant colony algorithm is a kind of bionic intelligent algorithm, which is suitable for combinatorial optimization. The principle and calculation flow of ant colony algorithm is discussed in this paper, how to use improved ant colony algorithm to solve the optimization problem of truss structure is analyzed, the optimization problem of 13-bar truss structure is calculated. The results show that ant colony algorithm has certain advantages in solving the structural optimization problem with discrete design variables.
