Magnetic, transport, and thermal properties of new orthorhombic compounds Ce 4 Pt 9 Al 13 and Ce 4 Pt 9 Al 13 have been investigated by the magnetization, the electrical resistivity, and the specific-heat measurements. Ce 4 Pt 9 Al 13 is a Kondo-lattice compound and shows a ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic transition at T C = 0.88 K. Pr 4 Pt 9 Al 13 is an antiferromagnetic compound with the transition temperature at T N = 2.6 K.
