A method for the formation of diffusion discrete oxidation on a carbide cutting tool is proposed. Comparative studies on the wear resistance of hard-alloy plates with diffusion discrete oxidation and without coating have been carried out. It was found out that the technology of discrete oxidation makes it possible to increase the wear resistance of the cutting tool by a factor of 1.5-1.8 in comparison with the original insert.
