Absolute cross sections results are reported for electron impact dissociative excitation and ionization of HD/sub 2//sup +/ in the electron energy range from threshold to 2.5 keV. Direct and resonant dissociative excitation is found to dominate the production of possible ionic products in the low energy region. Dissociative ionization is observed for H/sup +/ and D/sup +/ products only. The lowness of dissociative ionization signals both for HD/sup +/ and for D/sub 2//sup +/ indicate that molecular ions are dominantly formed in dissociative states, a situation which totally contrasts with the D/sub 3//sup +/ isotopomer case.Anglai
