The differences between two types of monorail vehicles are compared, and the configuration of suspension-type monorail vehicle is introduced. The vertical and lateral displacements of carbody under two running conditions are derived from the corresponding directional motions, which is the basis on calculating the vehicle gauge for suspension-type monorail vehicles. A program is written to calculate the displacement and then the results are transformed into vehicle gauges. The validity of the derivation formulas is verified.
