Preface

Foreword This volume of IOP Journal of Physics: Conference Series contains 96 papers that were presented at the 18th International Symposium on Transport Phenomena and Dynamics of Rotating Machinery (ISROMAC18). The conference was initially supposed to be held in Hawaii, USA, on April 19- 23, 2020, but it was finally held online on November 23-26, 2020, due to the pandemic. We tried to postpone this symposium several times and hold it in Hawaii, but it was impossible to predict the COVID-19 pandemic evolution. In these extraordinary circumstances the conference was held online with great success. These papers were peer-reviewed by the scientific committee of the symposium and accepted for online presentation and publication in this IOP Journal of Physics: Conference Series. Waseda University and the Pacific Center of Thermal-Fluid Engineering organized the symposium with the support of Nippon Travel Agency (NTA) and the Turbomachinery Society of Japan.
