The article deals with computer modeling of processes in earth structures of dam type, taking into account the nonlinear properties of soil. Large vertical and planned displacements of soil in the body of the dam are formed due to changes in soil density or as a result of the development of plastic shear strains. The application of the von Mises-Botkin and Coulomb hypotheses to the development of plastic strain is investigated.
