This article highlights the problems associated with calculating disk losses in pumping units. The paper addresses the problems of a theoretical description of the process of fluid flow in narrow end clearances. By varying several parameters of the system, the authors made attempts to identify the dependence of mechanical losses on the flow rate, rotor rotation frequency, the value of the clearance and the direction of the flow. The results of the research are given in a dimensionless form, based on which the corresponding conclusions are drawn.
