The Gibbs free energy of yttrium-containing compounds in 20MnSi steel is obtained by establishing a thermodynamic model and calculation. The results show that as the Y content increases, the oxygen content and sulfur content first decrease sharply and then slowly decrease; the Gibbs free energy of yttrium-containing compounds decreases as the content of rare earth yttrium increases; the Gibbs free energy of Y 2 O 2 S is the most negative and the Gibbs free energy of Y 2 O 3 is the largest. It is concluded from the thermodynamic calculation results that rare earth yttrium can be desulfurized and deoxidized, and the desulfurization tendency of yttrium is greater than the deoxidation tendency; Y 2 O 3 is unstable and can be transformed into Y2O 2 S.
