Artificial Intelligence, part of Information Technology, is currently the hottest spot in Information technology the main research subject of which is knowledge and the main research directions are methodologies, methods, and algorithms for knowledge acquisition, knowledge representations, and knowledge usage. The paper describes the core scientific content of these directions, outlines their state-of-the-arts, and analyzes briefly new trends and prospects for research and development in Artificial Intelligence for the forthcoming years.
