The step performance is very important for the safe operation of escalator. In this paper, static and dynamic load tests of aluminum alloy and stainless steel escalator steps are carried out. The breaking strength, deformation and first order modal frequency of the step with different sizes and materials are analyzed. The results show that the breaking strength and first order modal frequency of aluminum alloy step are higher than those of stainless steel step, and the maximum deformation of aluminum alloy step is smaller than that of stainless steel step.
