In this paper an effort is made to bring the research work done and possible future research scope by finding the gaps in the current reference circuits. Over large range of temperatures circuit must be operating flawlessly, in order to ensure this, a robust current reference circuit is very important. Current reference circuit is an important block in almost all the analog circuits and also in the mixed-signal circuits. All these recent works is based on CMOS technology with various technology nodes namely 65 nm, 180nm and 350nm. Some papers have not discussed area and others number of samples, this leaves a possible scope to investigate current reference circuits thoroughly. The other parameters discussed are Output current (nA), Minimum supply voltage (V), Supply current (nA), Current TC(ppm/°c).
