A mathematical model was developed to compare the association between the braking distances between the unloaded upward and downward braking inspection of the elevator at 125% load, and to derive the corresponding mathematical relationship and the interrelationship between the two braking distances as a function of the equilibrium coefficient. Then, by substituting typical values for specific parameters, the corresponding conclusions were drawn. At a equilibrium coefficient between 0.4 and 0.5, the two braking distances have some similarity with some reference value.
