The present study focuses on the fundamental physical principles underlying the exchange interactions between two metallic centers in magnetic insulators. Using the variational method in conjunction with the Heisenberg model, we demonstrate that the exchange symmetry is tightly related to the magnetism of the considered system and that the electrons’ distributions affect the corresponding exchange interactions.
