The use of old metallurgical processes is accompanied by releasing process gas into the atmosphere because its subsequent processing is not possible. New technological processes using oxygen flash smelter make it possible to obtain a sufficient concentration of sulfur oxide in process gases for sulfuric acid commercial production. A necessary element of the new type of power plants is heat recovery boilers that generate steam that can be used to generate electricity, which will increase the economic efficiency of oxygen flash smelter plants. The article shows that it is practically impossible to use steam turbines to generate electricity from this steam, and the use of steam-piston engines is proposed.
