In this paper, a special graph is defined. According to the structural characteristics of the special graph C 1 , d 1 , n , the independent set polynomial of a special graph I ( C 1 , d 1 , n ; x ) is derived by using the properties and lemma of independent set polynomial of simple graph. The Merrifield-Simmons index of this kind of special graph C 1 , d 1 , n can be obtained.
