The effect of various failures on the real productivity of the process module in the structure of mechanical-assembly production is investigated. A semi-Markov mathematical model is proposed, which allowsone to investigate the productivity of a hierarchically organized technological system taking into account its stochasticity and various failures. The model also allows you to explore the processes of testing and operation of finished products. This is proposed as an example of how to simulate an exploitation process of the item of machine-building. The proposed model allows one to take into account the influence of technological inheritance. Initial data for simulation are obtained by processing the results of production experiments.
